By combining rigorous theory, hours of camera time and a productive ‘hands on’ approach to TV presenting - together with an overview production convention; SAFTV allows participants to experience producing and Tv Presenting.

The course is concentrated and participants are required to step out of their comfort zone to work with professional personnel and broadcast equipment in the hope of achieving the highest quality digital broadcast.

The 8 week course is divided into theory and practice.

The initial three weeks of the course is devoted to trial and error where participants are encouraged to present and produce various recorded segments all on a DVD.

All participants receive a comprehensive manual and interactive DVDs throughout the course.

This course is SAFTV’s most popular course and numbers per course are limited

Course Cost -

$150 deposit and then $150 a week, for 8 weeks.

After this you can qualify for Platinum Package.

Not since Aristotle devised ‘the three acts’ structure has the convention of screenwriting been easier to understand.

A most exciting narrative development initiative is the SAFTV writer’s course.

In a 6-week experience, writers undertake six theory sessions with working professionals and embark on a journey to write and complete a short film screenplay ready for production – all with the expert tutelage of a credited script editor.

All writers receive a user-friendly reference manual that makes abstract concepts easy to understand.

It includes:

How to build, sustain and resolve conflict?

How to create endearing characters with which the audience will empathize?

And of course all the conventions; including script format, plot points, scenes, sequences and the right way to structure thematic narrative.

The manual includes motivating pointers and mantras to get you through to those (elusive) two words, THE END.

The ideology is simple.

Do it for real and you remember how to do it!
So here comes the reality!

SAFTV is more interested in your creative flair than your sentence structure so knock our socks off but keep it brief!

Producer's Course: This course is a one week intensive with our Experts

Freelance producers are able to hone their skills, develop new contacts and take away a do-it-yourself guide that outlines the way to successfully produce a feature film.

Everything about the production process is scrutinized including budget, managing staff and clientele, cast and crews, contracts, scheduling, script and the investment process – what they expect! What they get!

Graduates of this course are fully equipped to produce a picture thanks to the SAFTV modus operandi; create for real!

All producers will receive an opportunity to produce a segment for broadcast on EWTV in preparation for their masterwork; the pre-production of a short film as supplied by a writer.

That’s right, at SAFTV we have stacks of scripts itching to be made by a proactive first time producer like you.

The course runs for 6 weeks and the practical and theoretical curriculum coupled with good teachers ensures every producer can now go forth and produce!!!

Directors Course: This course is a one week intensive with our Experts

The Sydney Academy of Film and TV are holding our inaugural Director's course.

SAFTV is one of the industries leading feeders of new talent as is evident by our strike rate of placing no less than 30% of participants in paid producing and directing gigs.

This program operates for 10 weeks and in that time you will learn the conventions of continuity, cutting, camera angles, composition, pre production, rehearsing, casting and editing (as taught by leading film Directors).

You will meet new contacts and learn the craft culminating with YOU ASSISTING directing written by working writer's for our show EWTV on Foxtel complete with a professional crew and equipment.

You will need to story board and block the script and work with a producer to get the film shot and cut to strict deadlines but, do not worry, you will be guided by experts and receive a comprehensive reference manual that leads you through this exciting experience.

All successful applicants will generate a tv segment broadcast on National TV, a manual, a certificate of graduation and a show reel you can use to gain employment as a Director.

1 person from the group (Maximum 15 people only) will be offered a Directing internship position on our show.

If you are interested in securing an interview please reply to this email with the subject heading "DIRECTORS".

You will then be asked some screening questions and if you successfully negotiate the interview you will be offered a position.
